Knowing your face shape and features creates an advantage. You will make smarter choices and encounter fewer challenges when choosing a haircut/hairstyle, clothing, accessories (like sunglasses, jewelry…) and makeup techniques like highlight/contour.

You are God's agent in this world, how you look matters. Being conscious of your face shape will help you define your style and look your best. Plus, knowing what not to wear and not to buy is a benefit to your pocket!

Use a cloth or plastic measuring tape to determine the measurement of your face. These will help you understand your face better and discover your face shape/type:

  • Measure your cheekbones. Go across the top of the cheekbones from one edge (the outer corner of your eye) to the other. Go over the bridge of the nose, letting the measuring tape rest on the bridge instead of having the measuring tape straight through. Total = ________

  • Measure your jaw line. Multiply the measurement by 2. Total = ________

  • Measure your forehead at the widest area. Go across the forehead (the widest area is usually around the middle of your eyebrow or brow bone. Total = ________

  • Measure the length of your face. Go from the top edge of the forehead, down to the bottom of your face, at the end of your chin. Total = ________

The length of your face equals approximately to 1 ½ half times the width of your face.

The face is narrow (could be very “pointy”) at jaw line, wide at cheekbones and/or forehead. The forehead hairline shapes like a heart.

The face is much wider at the cheekbones, the forehead and the jawline approximately the same width.

The face is longer than it is wide.

The face has a more straight or sharp (could be very noticeable) jawline – it is different than the round face.

The face is pretty much the same width as it is long.
